The Malikov Samovar Factory

The Malikov Samovar Factory was part of the famous Tula dynasty of samovar makers and gunsmiths. Nikolai Dementievich Malikov ran the business in the first half of the 19th century, and his production became known for its precise finishing and characteristic shapes, such as the “faceted vase” and “jug.”

By the mid-19th century, the factory had grown significantly: in 1864, Nikolai Nikolaevich Malikov (the founder’s son) was registered in the 2nd merchant guild, and the factory produced thousands of samovars, made of both tombac and brass. His products participated in exhibitions, including the Manufactures Exhibition, where they received a medal for quality.

In 1882, the factory of Nikolai Nikolaevich was sold to Yegor Alexandrovich Vanykin, as the Malikov heirs chose not to continue the family business. This marked the end of the independent period of the Malikov factory, and its traditions were carried on by Vanykin.
